Congratulatory Remarks on the Occasion of the 4th International K-A Cappella Festival

As Chairman of the 4th International K-A Cappella Festival, it is my greatest honor to support this outstanding initative, organized by the Korean Kodály Society with the support of Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center Seoul.

The core mission of the Hungarian Cultural Center in Seoul is to share our heritage with the world; therefore, preserving Hungary's musical legacy is of paramount importance to us. We value our long-standing partnership with the Korean Kodály Society, headed by Dr. Cho Hong-ky and are immensely proud to see Zoltán Kodály's vision flourishing in Korea. This dedication is clearly reflected in the society's remarkable work and achievements in during its two decades of operation.

This year's festival features three distinct categories – Classical, Popular and Church music. We are especially pleased to announce that the Grand Prize winner will receive a full scholarship for a semester at the prestigious Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Hungary. This opportunity is provided through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program, with the support of our Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary. We truly hope this will prove to be a life-changing experience for a talented young musician.

It is wonderful to see the festival come to fruition after so much collective effort. We wholeheartedly embrace this year's motto directly from Kodály; "Music belongs to everybody,' as we believe in the power of music to unite people regardless of their origin.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the contestants for their hard work and passion. I wish you the very best of luck and invite our audience to immerse themselves in the wonderful performances of this year's program.

악기 없이 오직 사람의 목소리로 얼마나 깊은 음악을 만들 수 있는지,
그 음악이 얼마나 많은 사람을 연결할 수 있는지 알고 싶었습니다.

악기보다 먼저 울리는 목소리,
그 가장 순수한 소리로 우리는 서로를 만납니다.

이 작은 시작이 모여 오늘, 하나의 무대가 되었고,
다시 세계로 향하는 울림이 됩니다.

코다이의 말처럼,
음악은 누구의 것도 아닌 모든 이의 것입니다.
클래식, K-POP, 그리고 교회음악까지
서로 다른 영역이지만 결국 하나의 글로 모입니다.
"우리는 함께 노래합니다."

여러분의 한 음, 한 호흡이
누군가의 마음에 닿기를 바랍니다.
그리고 그 울림이 또 다른 노래로 이어지기를 바랍니다.
