The Solist, whose abilities are recognized not only in Korea's performing arts circles but also in a cappella scenes across Asia including Japan and Singapore, as well as the United States and Europe.

The fantastic harmony created by six men—countertenor, tenor, baritone, bass, and counterbass—handles the maximum vocal range humans can produce beyond the human vocal range we commonly know. The fantastic harmony created by the beautiful voice of the countertenor crossing an unbelievable female vocal range and the counterbass crossing an ultra-low register unbelievable for a human voice is no exaggeration to call an orchestra created solely with voices.

'The Solist' handles all music in this world with a wide repertoire alongside the diverse sounds they express.

'The Solist,' performing all music in a cappella, plays by depicting the sounds of various instruments solely with their vocal cords, and their technique is second to none. From trumpet to saxophone, guitar, bass, and even the drum sound called vocal drumming...

The repertoire they present on stage expands into various genres, ranging not only from classical pieces such as string quartets, symphonies, and operas, but also to contemporary music where accompaniment is standard, such as traditional folk songs, pop songs, jazz, and pop.

"An a cappella group sustained for 12 years since its founding"

In 1992, 'The Solist,' which formed Korea's first a cappella group, started 'A cappella'—a barren genre in Korea—under the initial group name 'Equalizer' and marks its 12th anniversary this year in 2004.

After finalizing the current lineup in 1994, they changed the group name to 'The Solist' and entered into full-fledged performance activities.

Based on solid fundamentals rooted in classical music, the diverse genres of music woven by 'The Solist' have consisted of European-style classical and jazz repertoires; they have performed somewhat stubbornly while striving to maintain musicality, and have been active as Korea's top classical jazz a cappella team. But now, 'The Solist' breaks the conventional stereotypes of a cappella and steps anew before the public.

한국의 공연 예술계는 물론이고 미국과 유럽, 일본,싱가폴을 포함한 아시아의 아카펠라계에서 그 능력을 인정 받고 있는 The Solist.
카운터테너, 테너, 바리톤, 베이스, 카운터 베이스의 남자 6명이 만들어내는 환상적인 하모니는 우리가 익히 알고 있는 인간의 음역을 넘어선 인간이 만들어 낼 수 있는 최대한의 음역을 소화한다. 믿어지지 않을 정도의 여성음역을 넘나드는 카운터너의 미성과, 사람의 목소리라고 믿을 수 없을 정도의 초저음역을 넘나드는 카운터 베이스가 만들어내는 환상적인 하모니는 목소리만으로 만들어낸 오케스트라 라고 해도 과언이 아니다.

"더 솔리스트" 는 그들이 표현해내는 다양한 소리와 함께 이 세상의 모든 음악들을 폭넓은 레파토리로 소화해 내고 있다.
모든 음악을 아 카펠라로 연주하는 "더 솔리스트"는 각종 악기의 소리를 모두 성대로만 묘사해가며 연주하고 있으며 그 기교는 타의 추종을 불허한다. 트럼펫에서 섹소폰, 기타, 베이스 심지어 보컬 드러밍이라고 하는 드럼소리에 이르기 까지…
이들이 무대에서 선사하는 레퍼토리는 현악4중주곡, 교향곡, 오페라 등의 클래식 뿐만 아니라 전통민요, 가요, 재즈, 팝 등의 반주가 기본이 되는 현대 음악에 이르기까지 다양한 장르로 확대되고 있다.

창단이후 12년간 지속되어 온 아카펠라 그룹"

1992년 한국 최초로 아카펠라 그룹을 결성한 "더 솔리스트"는 최초 그룹이름인 "이퀄라이저"로 국내 불모의 장르였던 " A cappella" 를 시작하여 올해 2004년에 12주년을 맞는다.
1994년에 지금의 멤버로 확정한 이후 그룹이름을 "The Solist" 로 바꾸고 본격적인 연주활동에 들어갔다.
클래식에 바탕을 둔 탄탄한 기본기를 기초로 "더 솔리스트"가 엮어내는 다양한 장르의 음악들은 유럽스타일인 클래식과 재즈 등의 레파토리로, 약간은 고집스럽게 그리고 음악성을 유지하는데 힘써오며 연주활동을 해왔으며 국내 최고의 클래식 재즈 아카펠라 팀으로 활동을 해왔다. 그러나 이제 "더 솔리스트"는 기존의 아카펠라의 고정 관념을 깨고 새로이 대중 앞에 나선다.
